Our Little Cubs programme is a fully structured, long-term martial arts pathway designed specifically for children aged 4 to 7. Our syllabus has been deliberately built to support continuous development from their 4th birthday right up to their 7th, ensuring a smooth and confident progression into the Juniors programme.
The Pathway:
Little Cubs follow a dedicated multi-step belt pathway that provides frequent, achievable milestones while reinforcing core martial arts skills needed for later technical development, such as:
*Fitness *Co-Ordination *Focus *Balance *Memory *Control *Teamwork
A child will either move into the Juniors programme when they turn 7, or when they complete their full Cubs belt pathway. This ensures they are never held back or rushed, and always have clear goals to work toward.
Development:
Throughout the Cubs programme, students learn fundamental martial arts skills including:
• Basic movement, footwork and positioning
• Controlled punches/kicks
• Simple blocks
• Mini combinations
• Short pattern-style sequences
• Class behaviour, etiquette and discipline
• How to train safely
The emphasis is always on accuracy, effort, confidence and good behaviour, not power or competition.
Gradings for Little Cubs:
Cubs grade every three months in structured, supportive assessments. Gradings focus on:
• Technique
• Concentration
• Memory
• Effort and behaviour
• Confidence
• Understanding of their syllabus material
Parents receive clear feedback and can track progress step-by-step through the belt pathway.
Journey After Little Cubs:
Once a Cub turns 7 or completes the full belt pathway, they graduate into the Juniors programme. By this time they have:
• Strong focus and discipline
• Solid striking and movement fundamentals
• Confidence in class structure
• Good teamwork and partner skills
• Understanding of martial arts etiquette
This ensures they enter the Juniors system prepared, capable and ready for higher-level training.
